Three Variations on Ruby Emerald Heart for Christmas

I made my original Heart Shape, finished with cording and a white silk backing,

then I experimented and made two more, these outlined in Nun's Stitch, cut out and sewed together with Running Stitch.  One Self Finishing Heart is Squared, the other Rounded.

The advantages of the Self Finishing Hearts: you can stitch them in the season, put them together in about 40 minutes and immediately hang them on the tree, or on the fireplace and enjoy for the season. No Deadlines, No Waiting, and very simple to do.

Original Ruby Emerald Heart for Christmas

This heart is a single sided heart so one piece of 8" x 8" white congress cloth.

Supplies include Soie d'Alger, Kreinik braid or Treasure Braid and Pearl cotton #12.  At the center of the heart is a large oval emerald glass jewel, surrounded by red and green beads, vintage flowers and silver cupped beads.

The instructions are 14 pages long plus a title page and a color copy of my heart.  The supplies do not include finishing silk and cording, and the instructions do not include how to finish the heart. I sent mine to a professional finisher.

Squared Ruby Emerald Heart for Christmas

Squared Ruby Emerald Heart has a Nun's Stitch edge on both front and back pieces of congress cloth, so finishing is very easy, and the instructions include how to assemble the heart.

Supplies include Soie d'Alger, Kreinik braid or Treasure Braid  and Pearl cotton #12.  At the center of the heart is a large oval ruby glass jewel, surrounded by red and green beads, pearls in two sizes and two silver cupped beads. The kit includes 2 piece of white congress cloth 8" x 8" for front and back of the heart.
