Description of Echoes of Elizabeth Sampler (Echoes I)

Echoes of Elizabeth is a sampler of techniques and design elements from Elizabethan embroidery notably Tudor roses, the use of pearls (a favorite jewel of Elizabeth 1) Reticella and the blackwork patterns. While the sampler harks back to an earlier time, it is not a historical representation. It just draws its inspiration from the period.

The sampler is approximately 9 1/4" x 12 1/2" on 14 1/2" x 17 1/2" white congress cloth. I cut the canvas 1/2" bigger so that you can avoid tape by turning under the edges 1/4" and hemming them.

The threads include Thread Gatherer overdyed silk, Soie d’Alger, Impressions, Kreinik braid and pearl cotton. The beads include vintage and modern examples: pearls, seed beads, Swarovski and vintage jewels and vintage sequins.

The techniques include traditional needlepoint composites, cutwork (Reticella), beading on canvas, blackwork and surface techniques.

The kit price is $248.00 and includes an instruction booklet, color copy of the finished project, 1 piece of congress cloth plus a doodle and all threads and beads needed to complete the project.

The instructions are 50 pages long plus a title pages  and 7 oversize graphs. I have also included my original class letter.
