Henry's Sewing Case

Dressing Henry VIII Sewing Case: The Story

Margaret Foster was a delightful friend who liked to write poems and for years she was Queendom Website's Poet Laureate.

I used to write little rhymes for my samplers and DH would grade them as High Dogerell, Medium Dogerell or Low Dogerell. On a good day I made it to Medium Dogerell; only once did I make it to Poem.

Understandably none of us would-be poets was a threat to the memory of TS Eliot, but Margaret belonged in a category all her own.  When I received this poem of Margaret's both DH and I agreed it was by far her best effort.

In the end I made Henry a Sewing Case in Margaret's memory and to honor her best poem.

Dressing Henry VIII Sewing Case

I think it probably unlikely that Henry VIII had a sewing case, but

Henry's Sewing Case Poem

Margaret Foster was Queendom Website's Poet Laureate. This was her last poem for me -- and by far her best. It is the reason I made a Sewing Case for Henry.

Sewing cases for men are rare

But Henry was as big as a bear

When he danced

His ripped his pants

So a sewing case, he wanted one

Carrying it was no fun

When that happened, he did dread

Out came the silken thread

Not sure he did the repair

He would not even dare

Surely with all his moniesĀ

The mending was done by all his honeys.
