Small Santa Fe Square Geometric

Newbies to me have been asking questions about my instructions, my kits and my

style, a sufficient number that I trolled through my files looking for a small geometric

design to introduce myself.

Here is a small geometric with some of my favorite sorts of stitches. The instructiions

include the threads I used but you could easily choose threads from your stash. The

design is very flexible.

Small Santa Fe Square

Sometime about 30 years after I stitched the original Santa Fe Square, I made a smaller version. I used the same threads and colors, but the patterns changed a bit and the design was smalller, a little more than 5" square on a 10" piece of 18 mesh canvas.

The instructions are 14 pages long plus a title page and a color copy of my Small Santa Fe Square.

The pattern lists my original threads but  many combinations of threads will work, a fun little bit of easy experimentation and an introduction for those of you new to my style.

Back in the early 1980's I made a portfolio of my designs. I was travel-teaching for the guilds then, and I used my portfolio for Teachers Showcase and other activities at the seminars where I worked.

At some  point I made my first geometric. I named it Santa Fe Square and I included it in my portfolio where it languished for a couple of years, unnoticed and not employed.

Then all of a sudden someone said to me 'ooooh I LIKE that one! Could I use it for a guild project and so began the very long life of my first geometric.
